b-pipe vs. dry pipe??

I have two superjets('01 and '00), one has a Factory b-pipe and the other has a Factory dry pipe with msd water injection. Here is my question: How much better is the dry pipe with water injection vs. b-pipe in terms of performance? Are we talking night and day or just a little better?

The one thing that will hurt you is the MSD water injection module sucks, it turns on way too late! I sell a universal one that will let you adjust the on mode much sooner! The 'B' pipe is very hard to beat with the mods I do to the them! You need big motors to make the bigger pipes work at lower powerbands!

set the MSD to 3 cylinder mode, somebody told me years ago that by doing this it would come on sooner?? Hey Chuckie, have you hurd of this?
I dont run them, used to when I raced the SJ.

I have 1 SJ with a b-pipe and 1 SJ with a dry pipe without water injection...

My B-pipe has a way better off idle pop so far than my dry pipe (type 4) does. Top end, and mid range so far are another story.

Both are ported 701's, although it's not a true comparison though... the dry pipe is running with a 62t cylinder (adrenoline racing ported) with dual 44 red tops and 33cc domes (180 psi), the B-pipe is running with a 61x cylinder (Magoo ported) with oem 38s and 35cc domes (185 psi).

I still need to do a little more dialing in on the dry piped ski... I think I can get a little more bottom end bark out of it.

Not to thread jack, but Chuckie, what do you think of running the 62t cylinder in the setup above? Just wondering since I've heard so much about 62t cylinders not having as good of port timing as the 61x...

I am very recent convert from Speedwerx dry to B pipe. No matter how much tuning I did I never got the bottom end I just got by simply bolting on a B.

I lost a few RPM's though for sure. I may be able to make that up on the B pipe tuning screws but I doubt it.

Between the 2, when perfectly tuned, I would say the B hits 10-12% lower than the dry. But my dry set up was AT LEAST 5-6 MPH faster.

Hope this helps.

I hated my type 9 on the polaris motor, switched to a mod chamber "B" with water injection. That put me right where i wanted to be. Definately lost some rpm's tho.

i had a type 9 on my race boat
no one could catch it in a straight line its pull out of the gate was amazing and it would keep pulling till it got to 7600rpm
i bolted a b-pipe on
i wpuld not say it has more low end just more throttle response
when you go to throw a nose stap you can pull a half throttle and it will still pull

the type 9 needed it all to do a stab

Let me re-phrase. I have a '00 SJ w/ a Factory b-pipe and stock motor. I have another '01 SJ w/ a Factory dry pipe w/ msd injection and ignition, Riva pump gas head, prok flame arrestors and a stock motor. I just bought these and won't get to ride either one of them until next weekend. I want to make the '00 closer in performance to the '01 without changing the b-pipe. I wanted to see if there is that much of a difference between the pipes??
