B pipe install Help

ok, I think my problem might lie with my elbow cuppler on front. IT seems like its to big, so it wont let the pipe sit far enough foreward to allow clearence to get the manifold on, and clear the motor... In the pics I have the pipe sitting where I think it should sit to allow clearence. Does this look about right? Have people had to trim the cuppler to get it to fit??

Start with cutting an inch off both ends of the coupler. If you need to cut any more off, cut it off at the small end. Remember you can move the waterbox around a little as well. There might be another way but the only way I found to get the pipe installed is to remove the chamber, install the manifold, unbolt the motor, tilt it up enough to get the chamber back in then install the head pipe. If you ever have to remove the pipe, unbolt the headpipe from the manifold and chamber then remove. Then everything is still lined up when you reinstall.

oh yeah... go ahead and cut that front coupler as much as you need for it to fit... just make sure to leave enough for the hose clamps to fit + a little extra

I never had to unbolt the engine... but I also have a kart tank...

couldnt you just take the tank out rather than unbolt the motor? might be slightly less hassle...

ya, I"d pull the tank first. We know how easy that is! So cut inch off both sides of the cuppler? I tell ya its a tite fit! I cant see how its not gonna rub against something!

Unbolting and tilting the motor isn't that big of a deal. Getting the tank back in is the a$$ pain.

Don't unbolt the motor that is a PITA. First remove your battery and tank. It takes about 15 minutes. Then mount your headpipe to your manifold (if you have a buddy handy). I would take the waterbox coupler out and install the chamber into the headpipe. If you have a buddy to help install the chamber, it can be done with the headpipe on. One guy pushes, while the other uses a hose tool, or screwdriver to manipulate the manifold/chamber coupler. If you are diy, you may have to take a guess on the waterbox to chamber coupler length, install the chamber to the waterbox, then put the manifold on the chamber, and bolt it on. I have found that having a friend help is the quickest and easiest method. The last time I pulled my chamber, my dad and I had it back on in less than 5 minutes without breaking a sweat. An extra set of hands is priceless.

Edit: Your pipe will rub the gas tank - Put some turf between it. It will also probably hit the hull.

Don't forget to have a finger worth of clearance between the motor bedplate and the chamber as well. It will hit, and it will rub through quickly. Don't be afraid to put a little dent in your pipe.

It will probly rub against sumthing, Take the tank out it makes working on the pipe alot easier (it only takes like 10 mins to pull the tank)

loosen 4 motor mount bolts and the motor will move plenty enough to get the pipe in there. power tools are your friend also

I'll try pulling the tank first. Thats easy to do.

So defintaly trim the coupler to fit correct?

I though that installing the chamber first was best way no?

ok, I cut the cupler and seems to work so far. I haven't put the tank back in yet, but I dont think the tank will have any problems. The couple sits right against the manifold is that normal? Also The pipe seems to clear everything ok, but sits hard against the outside of the hull.. Is this normal aswell? Here is the pics

i can pull my gas tank out in about 45 seconds... pull the on/reserve/return plus two straps, the clamp and yank.... that puppy is out

but i have a mod pipe not a limited. had to dent mine right above the motor mount cause it rubbed there a bit... its also rubbing my reinforcement as well... it will eventually rub through it but ill prob turf it this winter wherever it rubs.

eeek... :aargh4: I dont think thats a crack... I think its just dirt.. but I better look again! I didn't notice it when I was putting the pipe in.... IF it is... just one more reason for a light weight hull :wiggle: I will be pissed though cause I just got the ski last year!

So it is supposed to rub against the hull like that?? it literally is resting against the hull.

if you're going to do single cooling then just set it up like factory pipe says in the instructions... like I said in the PM- dont worry about the pipe rubbing.... unless it is really pushing hard on the hull, but it doesnt sound like it from what you describe... sounds like you're almost there!!!!

also not surprised that your coupler is butting up to your manifold on the side...
