:cool2: Anyone know what a complete 62T motor w/ carbs, bed plates, stator & flywheel, starter and bendix, weighs or how much it would cost to ship 500 miles via ups ground? I dont even have a clue what one weighs.
Someone out here has shipped one i am sure.

cool, I figured on $100 and bought it, then got nervous thinking what if its like $200? That would make a decent deal go bad quick. Kawi motor gotta be heavier than yamaha, huh?

tif I recall correctly about 40-60 bucks or so. I shipped one exactly as you described to Paul @ Jr Magoos a few months ago via Fedex (Fla-NJ). Pack it well so there's no issues.

not sure if it is heavier than a yamaha motor but i made a crate style box then put into a carboard box so the wheight was a little more. i also insured it for the full price of what i sold it for. i wanted to make sure that all my bases were covered when i shipped that motor.

DHL is horrible, I've had nothing but lost packages and 4 week waits with them. Go UPS and do it right. Or use motor freight, I've shipped 160 pounds with motor freight, 3 packages at one time, for 55 dollars.

thanks, unfortunateley I am buying it and someone else doing packing. I discussed all above with him and hope he does it right.
Thanks for all your help

Best way to pack somehting is in two layer

one box with your item filled with very solid packing for something like a motor. I'd say pack it incredibly tight with packing slips and bubble wrap. The put that in another box and fill gaps with TONS of bubble wrap.

When we are being rushed to load something. We just see a brown box not a motor, so its easy to just push something off a 4 foot roller to the truck bed:banghead: :sneaky:

Just plain me....
Why is Waste's comment so surprising to you guys. This is not a new revelation. Did you honestly think that all packages were treated like Faberge' eggs? In today's world where it "absolutely has to be there overnight", how do you think these guys have time to be as gentle as a groom to his virgin bride on their wedding night:bigeyes: Most of them are not trying to be destructive; they've just got a job to do in a limited amount of time.

Exactly. Not even in a over night situation. Regular ground packages have to be loaded fast. When I was on the direct line;I loaded around 1500 packges in around 2 hours by myself. You can imagine how fast we gotta stack

Like I said make your you pack it well and dont leave alot of extremities. Like remove the carbs/head pipe/engine mounts/ anythign that can be landed on and snapped.

make sure its packed well, AND insured for more than you are paying for it.

it HELL to collect from the theivin bastids at UPS, but you can if you play hard enough.

ive had better luck with FEDEX, get an account with them ( its free) and gound is dirt cheap.

I shipped a Kawasaki 750 cylinder and crankcase to FL for under $20
