I am thinking about getting a primer for my sj. I have the plunger style in my old 550 and that died after about 2 years. I would like something that will last a little longer than that.

What else would you use it for?
I knew that was going to get asked

When surf riding I would use it when/if the motor drank some water...a little squirt while @ 1/4 throttle would help clear it all out.

Then if/when you ever hydro the motor, you use it to flush the plugs. Between that primer, some WD-40...I'll get a pelican running on both cylinders.

I use it on all of mine and have had good luck so far. I'm not as hard on the primer as Beachjunkey though. He can work a primer! It does take more squeezing than pumping of the plunger style but every plunger one I had leaked.

have one on my sxr, does the job, I like the low profile, but does not work as well as a plunger........

but, if your carbs are tuned you should not have to use a primer to crank it....

humm..
so turned carbs defy gravity and newton's law?

i dont know about others, but my ski sits for the week, or hell a few hours, teh gas in the lines drain back into the tank... oh and i dont have a external fule pump...

anyhow, i would buy teh JSS primer anyday over the others,, it only take 1-3pumps max to get a good amount of gas into the body, and you can not beat the low profile.

No like winter
They need to use something more durable for the bubble. I had one and it lasted MAYBE 3 months... I only used it for the first start of each riding day (cold start)...

I was pretty dissappointed and am switching back to the plunger

You have these little attachments on your carbs called fuel pumps.... If they are in proper order, and your jetting and adjustment screws are set right, then no, you dont need a primer......... I went for years on my 38's where all I had to do was hit the starter, dont even touch the throttle and bang, it fires up..............

I agree with BK I also don’t need a primer because my 44’s are on the money. I use my primer for mainly after water ingestion I also have my JSS bulb primer under the hood and out of the way. My tuner makes sure the carbs are set correctly.
