yep up the center and tails off to the right at the bottom of my foot (top of pic). 9 screws and 2 plates, broke both bones in about 5 places.
Did they take any of your hardware out?

Here are my ankles. Left looks worse than the right but you can use them to compare.

No surgery needed.

All I see is hair j/k. With the swelling down my bones look oversized like yours. I guess thats something I'm going to have to live with. Up side I'm walking without a limp. I'm getting my range of motion back and I will be back on a ski soon enough.

not yet. i wake up everyday with a small pain and and ton of stiffness in the ankle so i will get that crap out eventually. i am on year 3 from surgery and have about 85% range of motion in all directions.

the shiotty thing was waiting 12 days for the swelling to go down BEFORE surgery!

good luck with it all. i feel for ya. take it as easy as you can for as long as you can, you want that thing to be strong when its over.

thanks, I just talked to the orthopedic surgeon and he cant see me till 10/04/07. :ugh2: My girlfriend is yelling at me to get off the computer and to go put my leg up so I must obey:spank:

No doubt, I had to wait over a week with to see the ortho with nothing more than anti-inflamitories. Then when I saw her we had to wait till the swelling went down to determine completely if surgery was necessary.

So very sorry Sir! It bites I know, and mine are still not right after September 06 break and February 07 dual breaks! Do what they say, then get on the sj in flatwater for pt imho (cheaper than pt and more fun) .02

yeah, on the good side I saw the doc today and it looks like I dont need surgery. As long as the bone stays where it is a cast will do. I will know more next week after more x-rays. :crutches:

P.S I hate pain pills

Keep your ankle above you heart. Swelling made my hard cast too tight. If you toes start burning and tingling go back. Don't suffer through it like I did. I still don't have surface feeling in my foot because of the cast being to tight.
This thing is cool, much better than crutches Drive Knee Walker. You might be able to find a company to lease it to you for a month or two.

Good Luck! and keep your foot in the air as much a possible. Pain Med do suck they screw up your whole system.

I just bought my Superjet this summer and I've noticed a lot of ankle injuries riding SJ's. I've had some bad ankle injuries in the past and have already found my ankles get sore riding my ski. I even slightly sprained my right ankle doing a small jump. I've also noticed I have a problem standing in the ski with my legs bent forward over my ankles when the ski is riding with the nose slightly up. I may have problems that will keep me from really getting all I can out of my ski.....

Does anyone have recommendations for ankle protection equipment?
SuziQ recommended these. http://www.medspec.com/OnlineProducts.cfm?ID=82 I've not bought any yet because I want to see a foot/ankle doc and see if they have any other recommendations.

Good luck with your recovery and keep your leg elevated!!

here is a bad pic from my phone

That looks really so painful. Still, it does look better than one of those earlier shots. I hope I'm not about to join you and Fox this weekend, but I'm concerned since surf is big. I lost my gel cushions I now wear, so I have to go get more in the am (yikes, it is am), but I really do recommend you ask your doctor about these specific brands and types. If he doesn't have these kind, I would look into getting them direct. Peps fly from all over to see this group (they drive me insane), so they better have the right stuff.

The gel cushions (you'll never wish to walk w/o them again) are so necessary, especially when jumping now. If you cushion your landings (it so seriously does), your less likely to re-injure it easily. It really helps when your trying to put your foot down again (all my breaks were on the bottom of my heals, so it really helps me).

The ankle wraps to prevent the roll-outs are designed so that they can be adjusted to fit like they were specifically made for you, so the support is immense. They're streamline, so they fit down in your riding shoes nicely.

(both take forever to suit up, but...)

The ice pack stays on your ankle no matter what you're doing (walking). They say that the pain comes from the inflamation alone;if you wish for no more pain, you have to ice it every 20 mins and take the inflam meds regularly. Since it's such a pia, this brand (got mine at CVS) is great...you should get two so you can alternate.

I hope both of you get to feeling better soon , just really bites!

Alright-I went ahead and ordered one of the Medspec Speedlacer supports. My ankles are not quite 1" in diameter different from each other.

I saw someone mention "wedges" for their ski. Are these what I think they are. Just thick pieces of turf that are on the rear part of the tray to make it easier to stand while the nose is high??? That might be just the ticket for me.

1 plate, 11 screws, and 14 weeks. Still can barley walk. Left calcanius is screwed. Doc said she cut into me and bone fragments fell out on to the table. Shooting for back flips in Daytona.

Geoff , Dude , your catching up to me with injuries, I got my ankle broken over a year ago from some PAB crossing under the net and landing on me playing Volleyball, The bones heal real fast, but now Im having to have custom othopedics to align the ankle properly ,

But Bright side If you stop lending you ski to Oxnard, you can get it dialed perfectly for when the real surf starts rolling in

Hope you heal Quick
