No question that I'm worried about it. Especially with the weird noise it was making.
check cooling lines, I had a ski that had a plugged line after the motor and it would heat up and act weird sorta like you are describing. but you could def tell it was hot.
all else fails go back to the start. check it all from the bottom up and replace all that questionable bs on the way.
There is a defiinite black could over my house this year. I have not had a single day on the lake without major wrenching. When I tried to hop on my ski to blow off some steam it wouldn't start. Bad sss. Anybody got one?
