Don't forget your flywheel bolt. I don't know why people use anything besides Anti-sieze. When it comes to automotive and diesel, everything gets lubed and pretty much only flywheels and balancers get Loctite. I don't believe skis should be any different.

I dont care what guys use so long as something is in the threads to keep corrsion out, lube the threads and if it helps ensure that it doesnt come loose well to me thats just a bonus.

loctite has many different lockers and sealants. I use it because its installed factory. when you take a super crusty ski apart and have no broken bolts it is because the factory sealant did its job. if you look at a the exploded view in a factory repair manual it has a lube or grease at the washer and thread sealant or locker on the threads.

whatever works- works! grease, dog:):):):), skeet-skeet, whatever...so long as it doing something to protect the threads.

why does there need to be more drama?

oh ok, yes lucas red and tacky is #1 loctite is ok if you are out of that. are we good now? can we get back to bashin on vumad for not puttin whale spooge on his threads?

here is another useful tool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ny0ix0OyO1c

It was just a statement. I understand (but personally wouldn't do it) why you would lube just the washer/flange and Loctite the rest, but I guess maybe it wasn't worded properly. I still don't understand why anybody would use just Loctite on a bolt. I see on their website it protects threads from corrosion, but there is more to a bolt than threads and maybe it is just the salt, but I feel no need for any real thread locker.

I also understand whatever works, but some things work better than others. Sometimes I ride a 650 Square around buoys and off waves, but most times I will still advertise against it as most people would require something different. No drama intended.

Stainless and aluminum will gall. You do not even need water. Always lube the fasteners if you want it to come apart. The amount of time is irrelevant except that with time it can chemically react to minerals in any water and become frozen. We used to use the blue and red loctite back in the early 90's. Then nothing came apart without heat. Using antisieze is a must on any stainless screw. Its just the properties of stainless and with aluminum it makes the magic white loctite powder :)

Stainless Bolts Gull period BUT ESPECIALLY IF USING LOCK NUTS. Avoid using them if you can, better off doubling the non lock nuts up and using locktite.
