I think a 650 driveshaft is shorter than a SX. I think that's what I used in my carbon sxi pro to set the motor back. Then you could use a 550 or sx coupler to get it to the right length.

So, I dropped off my crank at the machine shop. I supplied the rebuild kit and he said it wont be more than 300.00 rebuilt, trued and welded. Sound like a good deal? Im also looking for a sea doo 3 wire rectifier so I can have a charging system.

Fred, after reading your post it sounds pretty ghey that you were "on me" But I laughed anyway.

Time to shift my attention back to this project. I should have the crank back within a week or 2. Im also looking at a billet R&D intake with reed stuffers to make life easy, and found a micro touch programmable ignition for 99-01 sea doo 951. Im wondering if the micro touch is a "full standalone" or do I still need the other Sea-Doo electrics to make it run? Its either that or go with the Advent system. The price is right on the micro touch, I just want to be sure it will work by itself.

Brian great work you will get it this year! Won't you ? lol

as long as my car dosent blow up again I will be able to finish it this winter. I just got used to driving an all wheel drive monster that barely gets traction on a dry road... Looking forward to learning to ride an equally overpowered ski this summer.

Im just doing this for fun. Not really worried about racing, or getting the max speed out of the ski. just a rec rider. and that brings me to my next question- since Im not going to be out racing, should I spend all the money on the advent ignition or get an MPEM and front ebox and do it cheap?

Im back to working at this. Motor is back form the machine shop and will be put together this weekend. I just bought a decent TIG welder so Ill be able to do all the exhaust fab myself (after some practice on aluminum) I still need to purchase a splined 951 PTO hub and a sea doo shaft to fit it, and have it welded to my shaft on a lathe so she turns true. Glass in the front mount and then its a weekend full of wiring and plumbing hopefully this summer it will be alive!
