701 CDI on a 6m6?

I am helping a buddy out working on his ski. His setup is a 650 engine with a protec pipe and I think he has a 46mm carb, or maybe it is a 48 that has been taper bored. We are replacing the whole electrical box . The reason why we are replacing the whole box instead of the bad coil it has is because his electrical box halves are in bad shape and the inside is so corroded and nasty. I was/am able to get my hands on a box from a 701.

So my question is? Is the 500rpm higher rev limiter gonna be really bad for his engine? Is it worth using that CDI, or should we just use his old one from his 650 box?

there is no difference at all exdcept for the rpm limiter

You could turn the timing up as well
because the 650 has such a small exhaust port its high end rpm is down and so is its bmep
so it will live happily with the higher timing up top
