I agree from the sounds of it he wants to buy the sx and is looking to see what he will be missing out on.
Don't do it. my first ski was a 650sx and I wasted years struggling to keep up with the sj's that everyone else was riding. I dont care if I never had to drop a dime in it or change a plug, I missed out on all the fun. I thought I had a good ski until I rode a friends sj. it felt light, turned better, ran stronger and I was impressed most by how little effort it took to stay on the damn thing. where as with the sx I was always falling and jumping waves was being like being tied to a brick.
dont waste your time and money to ride now. save and get a sj and be happier in the long run. for one you wont be stuck with a beginner ski that you will quickly outgrow, you can find a cheap sj and if you save a little more you can get a nice ski that will run a long time.
WFO is the exception to the rule. He has a lot of experience with a lot of different skis and knows a great deal about a great deal. EXCEPT-he does not care for sj or following the crowd. nothing wrong with that. so if you have a lot of time and are willing to spend years to know what he knows so you can do what he does then go for it. but if you want to get into the right ski from the start... the choice is clear.
I also think its worth mentioning that if you want to ride surf or freestyle there is not one single ski in production today that is based off of the 650sx hull. No pros are riding em, no one is taking ideas from them, even kawasaki has moved on to something better. If you want to race around on flat water then maybe the sxr is the ski you want. a new sj will still be more fun for my money. and it will be able to transition to a great surf ski too. the sxr not so much.
Vumad and Jrslim are two diehard kawi guys and we have been hounding them for years to give up and those heavy pos skis, today both are sj riders.
Dude hull builders are even custom designing hulls to be able to run stock 701 motors and still be capable of flips and rolls.
This can go on as long as you want, in the end you know what the clear choice is. resist the urge to ride that pile and hold out for something better. or dont, I dont ride with you so I dont have to hear you whining about it. lol
by the way, welcome to the X and GET A SJ!

I think you should bum a ride on a sn. One ride on a 650 sn with a pipe, and my sx was sold. It handled so much better and was ten times more fun.

WFO, I am pretty sure he is referring to you... cause clearly in all your years of "WeDoo-ing" SeaDoos and Kawis you were deprived and never got to ride a SN. :bad3:
I will add this if you are going to buy an SJ at the very least buy something with a 701 in it, really if you can afford it any way at all buy a Round nose, I find nothing really appealing about a SN SJ with a 650 in it, heavy ski with a wimpy engine and a monster of a handlepole , the RN has a much lighter pole , a 701 engine and you can ride one and have a decent ski without having to do $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in mods just to have something decent.
This is true. Everyone who has a pulse wants a superjet.
. I was wondering if it's easy to make the kawi handle more like the yamaha with a good ride plate or something...
