Super Jet 650 sx vs. SN SJ

some good info here guys, thanks. I do like riding the SJ wayyy more than the SX. I'll admit that. The SX I rode was piped, and the stock SJ would destroy it, but I'm not concerned so much with power, I'm more concerned about handling. The Kawi seems top heavy, and likes to slide, so 180's are easy but I like the lateral grip of the yamaha more. I was wondering if it's easy to make the kawi handle more like the yamaha with a good ride plate or something...

If you want the SX, buy the SX. If you want the SX to handle like a SJ, just buy a SJ. Trying to make something else ride like something you can just start with is a complete waste of resources. A SX can probably be modified to handle like a SJ, but a SJ WILL handle like a SJ and guess what, no extra work or money!

Like the SX, buy the SX. Like the SJ, buy the SJ. Buying a SX and spending more money than the SJ costs so that you can spend time working on it instead of enjoying riding it is just dumb.

Give me $1500.00 and I will magically turn a 650SX into SN SJ.

Why would you want to? Doesn't make sense to me to turn something into something else when you can just buy what you want already. Perhaps you enjoy tinkering with these toys as opposed to riding them. I know id rather buy a ride ready ski and just ride it. Of course, just my uneducated and non experienced opinion not based on any facts.

My first ski was a mint 89 650sx that i bought for $700. It was fun to ride for a few month then I got bored of it, luckily my uncle use to racing X-2's and had TONS of aftermarket stuff laying around, so after putting about every a/m part possible on that SX it was fun to ride again! until I met a guy at the lake with Eric Malone's 1997 Superjet, I rode that thing and was completely blown away:shocked1:!!! two month later I sold my SX and bought my 98 RN and wish I would of done it sooner. My SJ has yet to get boring to ride and it doesn't have near the mods that SX had.

So I got a chance to ride the 650sx and the superjet back to back yesterday. Couple things I noticed. Powerwise, they are pretty close, even though the 650sx has a pipe and high comp head. The superjet is definitely more stable when cruising, and hooks up soooo much better in the turns. The kawi slides, sucks air, then hooks up again after the corner. Plus, the SJ is all stock and the 650sx has an intake grate, ride plate and an impeller. I do think the kawi comes out of the water easier off wakes though. Overall, I do like the SJ much better.

Save the extra $1500 and buy a superjet that already handles that way... with that $1500 you could have a 701, a used pipe, head, intake grate, roundnose pole, quick steer plate, footholds and turf, bored nozzle, etc. At that point the 650sx would need about $5-10,000 to compare to the SJ
