Can somebody look at this picture and tell me if this is fugged up or what? My new crank wont fit my cases and this is what I find. The bottom half has about a 1 mm difference from the top half. The crank spins fine in the top half but when I put the bottom half on, it rubs and wont spin.

I presume they are a matched pair (might be a serial number on the end of each case) and that the dowels are lined up with the holes in the midseal and main bearings ?

The serial numbers on each half match, but you're right, they look like a mismatch to me. The grooves for the seals match up and everything. My old crank spins fine, but it is about 1mm thinner on that part of the crank. The crank builder told me it fits a set of cases he has just fine.

A buddy of mine had a brand-new HotRods crank that did the same thing. Spun fine out of the cases, but bolted in & torqued down it would lock up. The crank was faulty.

Here is my old crank which I assume is OEM. It measured 61mm at the point I show in the picture. The new one measure about 1 mm wider. If anyone has a crank laying around and they could take this measurement, I would appreciete it.

I've got a spare crank laying on the counter at home. If I (or someone else) doesn't have an answer to you by late tonight, send me a PM and remind me to check that.

Madmat measured different then Tshank but when i measured like Madmat I got 62, There is a mm lip near the center of the crank that gives the difference

Matt I have had the same with a hot rod crank as well
turned out to be the labyrinth seal.
I used to love hot rod cranks, not so much any more
