-rn pre cut cloth
-mixing cups and stirrers-why not-
-epoxy reisn

i have finished taking out everything from ski and i do mean eveything.

no its time to grind down the ribs.

and wait till fri or monday for the parts.

by the way i may be away for a lil bit tomarow morn im having a septoplasy and turbiectomy my nose has been cloged for about 3 months now and its due to elarged turbinates and my septum being not strait.
anywhays ill post pics as i go and any tips would be great.

oh ya got a week off work to work on ski and help heal the nose. hehe

You prob wont be doing any type of fiberglass work with all that crap stuffed up your nose...

I have to get that surgery myself at some point... you will have to tell me how it goes. Sounds like you are well on your way with the ski though!

step 2

now its time for step 2

well kinda

lets just say grinding the ribs down ssssuuuucccckkkssss
i am so glad i have finished that part along with getting all the stuff out and cleaning it all with acetone.

i ended up buyying a lil hard finish sander 80g.. that was kinda for finish jobs. i ended up going put and grabing a dremel i used an array of but from cutoff whell that breaks in 7 seconds to the lil circle sander that did good messey but good. next time ill get a hardcore belt sander with like 40 grit.

now its time for my nose surgery tomarow morn at 830 i know i wont touch the ski till sat maybe sunday. the parts will come monday and by then i will have been healed enogh to start the tubbies.

i will post some pics when i get home my cell phone hookup thing is there.

let me know if anyone needs pics or more defined things on the build.

a grinder would be alot faster than that sander to remove the ribs..also make sure to not leave any of the ribs near the bottom like you have in the pic..

you also will need the grinder to get some of that green glue out of the bondrail so you can pack that all with filler..

guy at blowsion said leave an inch im going to grind the green gunk with my dremil and wait to see what the blowsion kit looks like as far as clearince. hey is under the handlepole really neccesary. seem like alot of work

"you also will need the grinder to get some of that green glue out of the bondrail so you can pack that all with filler.."

like my nose.

it doesnt hurt anymore im assuming its a lil vicaden and the streching has happeded and not too much pain now.

heres a pic of my nose sorry to grose all out,

It's not that much more work than doing the bondrail. While your at you might as well do it. Just hang it from the ceiling upside down so you can walk under it. That will make it easyier.

grind away any of the big globs of green glue... I would not worry about getting it all out... just the big glogs that stick out.... grind the remainder of the ribs off.... you will not want them there when you lay your glass... trust me

under the handpole may be the most necessary part on the whole ski.... right along with the hoodlip.... the handpole area is the slightly weaker on the newer superjets too.... that is what I was told by a very reliable source.

I'm sure you can use whatever you want. However, if you use some 404 filler and lay the glass before the filler hardens the glass will be bonded to the filler. Makes it very strong.

if you order your stuff from US Composites website (I recommend you do....) get the aerosil/cabosil and use that ... you mix it with the resin/hardener to a peanut butter consistancy.... get the 2.5 quart container... it is very strong. You put that stuff in the bondline and then lay your glass right over it right away and keep going... that way everything has a strong chemical bond.

lol

whats your method of fiberglassing. im sure there are instructions but i wanna research it a lil.
how do you do it lay up some resin the lay up some on the cloth the some over it. any tricks

Ericfox

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
once you start doing it you will realize how easy it is.... one word of advice I can give after I did it is: make sure you mix up enough resin/hardener that you know you will use in a short amount of time if you are using the fast set hardener... if the mix starts to "kick" which means like activation of the resin/hardener mix then it will not absorb into the cloth well... use those plastic cheap painters tray or another large shallow container to delay the activation. You will see that if you put your fast hardening resin/hardener in a cup then it will activate very quickly.... just paint some resin on the surface your working on... place your cut fiberglass on top... then paint som more resin on top and press in with paintbrush, scraper, or roller.... whichever you end up liking more. You dont want to use enough resin that it runs all over the place... just use enough so the cloth is soaked...

it is not that hard... once you do it about half way through you will realize that it is actually pretty easy... reinforcing fiberglass work is pretty easy since you dont have to worry that much about looks... make sure you have lots of 2" brushes and lots of latex gloves

If you use US Composites 635 epoxy resin and the 3:1 medium hardner you will have about 30+ minutes pot life. Plenty of time to work the fibergalss.

wow

all i can say i wow holly geez no way.

im not talking about the ski...for once.

my nose!!!!!!

it has like 3 times more flow feels like too much almost. imagine breathing the amount you breath through your mouth now imagine that same flow through the nose both nostrals.

just amazing would do again in a heartbeat.

currently i am doing nasal irrigation and getting that old clotted blood and crap out and keepinit all nice.

best of all it was covered except to 10 dollar vicoden and 10 dollar antibiotic.

anyways back to the build.

i recived the ups note on the door today they came earlier and left a note so i have to wait till tomarow to get the parts. oh well i have to do a lil more prep and relax the nose a lil.

hey anyone know what bit i should have for the tubies and also do i need to get differnet screws.
