Should be fixable, just run a few layers of cloth around the base [if there will be enough clearance for the mount] and drill new a new hole. Shouldn't be too hard, just make sure you use epoxy resin and get all the air bubbles out.

Whats the underwater viability like? With my fish finder i can see a fishing line dropped off the back of the boat, im sure you could spot a ski with it. Find someone with a decent one

i personally would go with the 96, engine has had allot more work done allready footholds can be done allot cheaper then the rest of the mods that you would install to make the skis even
