i think he meant friction burn.... and yes, it can happen. applying a piece of turf to the tank in that area is a good way to prevent it from happening.
i landed a couple like that the last 2 times i rode hillsboro. its not so bad landing upside-downish/nosepiece first.
my rotation seems to go to the side though.....
maybe ill try harder next time
i modified a UMI turnplate on my wifes square to run straight bars. i think i left about 3/8" between the bar and bearing housing. the pad had to be modified but it came out really nice.
to get rid of the 'overbite' that the chidpad had, i mounted it in front of the 2 bosses on her ac pole...
