sounds stator related. the resistance of the green wires has very little to do w/ spark.
also, check the grounds in the box.... and not just visually. i had a bad ground in my ebox a few months back that wound up being a broken wire. the wire 'looked' fine, but the conductor was broken...

4 screws total. none in the front. if you reach your hand under the nosepiece and pull up, it wants to stay down.
screwing the forward screws down on the angle forces the thing to stay tight.
