I use anti-seize on my crank coupler end, makes popping them off with just a 1/2" impact so easy, but yeah ones that have been on for many years and with corrosion, etc can be a bitch for sure. You gotta have the coupler tool..

I have best results with the colloidal(fumed) silica. It absorbs all the resin so there is no tiny air bubble/voids in whatever you put it on. Some fillers do not soak up the resin ALL the way no matter how long you let it soak or stir.
