you can use polyester to hold the holds to the ski if you grind all the way through the gelcoat to the glass on the ski (only on a roundie, since theyre polyester and squares are SMC). thats alotta grinding. if youre only going to rought up the gelcoat on the ski, id still use epoxy, as itll...

i believe polyester will still make a chemical bond after it has cured, unlike epoxy. i could have it backwards though.

ive had great luck with yuasa lead acid and sealed. ive been using deka's for over a year in 3 skis and zero problems. jesse... you said that some ooze leaked out. did you have a gel battery? maybe the charger DID trickle charge it. as i understand it, gel batts dont like low amperage charging.
