How long can you keep an opened tube of Yamabond for before it goes bad ? I have one that's easily 4 years old but still looks OK.

Strip it out and make a new (lighter) liner. Makes a big difference in weight.

Yep. Hit the old paint with some 120 grit and watch how smooth that SMC will become in just a few passes.

The hull is SMC and it was painted from the factory. Not gelcoat. It's not like you keep the hull in the water 24/7 so don't sweat the water eating up the glass.

That's nothing. You could sand the old paint off right down to SMC and get it almost perfect. Apply some Marine-Tex in the bigger gouges and paint it with what ever paint turns you on. It will all get scratched up all over again so I just use a rattle can and call it good.
