The things you see sticking out of the hubs are bearing buddies with yellow protection caps on them,I would leave them on.I will second the use of old rub rails on top of the bunks,it makes loading and unloading a snap and it doesn't scratch the bottom of the ski either.

Rent a big ass U-haul truck ,load up the skis and peeps and at night campout in the truck!

The midshaft for the 701-760 is much longer than the one for the 1100-1200 models on most Yamaha sit down watercraft,not sure on the GP hulls

Nothing fishy there thats the way a 760 is setup,timing is not adjustable that I know of.
