Not sure about the different brackets, but on the xmetal bracket, I had to move the hooks. Very simple to do though.

The bracket mounting area on a square is angled whereas on the roundnose it is flat. If you reinforce the mounting area, you can build it up so its flatter. The pole extends up plenty in my opinion and doesnt get in the way at all when I'm wrenching. I'm guessing you could even trim the stop...
