    yeah that's where I am now back of the wear ring basically I took off 6mm and that is how much play I have now of course the silicone is dry now.

    what are you guy's doing after machining an impeller to allow for driveshaft length? after setting back my impeller I have about a 1/2" movement fore and aft on driveshaft I thought about trying to slide engine back or is there a longer coupler I should use?

    I would think that 550 should pull a 14/17 ok. yes shimming the impeller is important you want it as close as you can get it without hitting, you said it was off center you might have a swollen liner in the pump housing and some wear issues to look at.
