what are you guy's doing after machining an impeller to allow for driveshaft length?
after setting back my impeller I have about a 1/2" movement fore and aft on driveshaft I thought about trying to slide engine back or is there a longer coupler I should use?
some like to remove the fuel selector to avoid air leak's and when they mod for the low profile look and steering tower, yeah remove the choke butterfly and install a primer kit when you remove the shaft then you can use one of the choke shaft holes for the primer installation.

I would think that 550 should pull a 14/17 ok. yes shimming the impeller is important you want it as close as you can get it without hitting, you said it was off center you might have a swollen liner in the pump housing and some wear issues to look at.
