wiesco vs. pro-x vs. WSM vs. OEM

Here's what I've heard. Round tops. Pro-X and OEM are very similar in quality and construction and seem to last well. Wiseco weigh less which should give better throttle response but don't last as long as Pro-x or Oem before needing a re-ring or rebuild. Also with Wiseco you do need to be...

how fast does your freestyle ported engine go?

I'd guess that 90% of the freestyle/freeride skis here would barely break 50mph. Bottom end power is where it's at for a us. STeve

    Excessive wear on driveshaft?

It's only 3 bolts but it is up to you. There's a 99% chance they are in there unless someone replaced the shaft and never put the O-rings in. Here's a pic

    Superjet / waveblaster shafts

That's weird. I ran my lamey motor for 3 seasons in my 97 and the shaft splines still looked new. Steve

    Excessive wear on driveshaft?

Sorry, for some reason I thought you had your ski completely disassembled. Next to impossible to see the end of that shaft when it is installed. If you didin't take them out then they should still be in there. Steve

    Excessive wear on driveshaft?

Ya some of the ones I've seen really look like a weld that has been ground down. Mark, When you reassembling check inside the intermediate shaft to make sure the two O-rings are in place. The shaft will also wear quicker if these are not there. Steve

Remove hood, turn upside down, put hood back on. Don't worry about it, it is only about a cup of water in each hand hold. Steve

    Ski Love

I feel that way about my ski sometime but mostly its my motor that makes me smile. Just when you think it couldn't run any better you get one of those days where the air is cool enough to make good power, the water is warm enough for the motor to reach proper operating temp, the waves are big...

    Excessive wear on driveshaft?

Mark, I don't think it is a wear mark as there is nothing back there for it to rub on. I've also seen this mark on most of the superjet driveshafts. My guess is that it is from the manufacturing process when Yamaha makes the shaft. Later Steve

This may have already been mentioned but Re-inforce the sides of your skis if you plan on trying b-rolls and backflips. You can do a lot of damage while learning. Hood straps and handlepole limiting ropes wouldn't hurt either. Steve

    rebuild problem

Man that sucks, it just keeps getting better and better with that ski:17: . ken_mueller82 :tool: (Pwctoday) must have got some flunky to deck the cylinder. Your average aftermarket head runs aprox 0.050" squish clearance. If he were decking the cylinder to make sure it was flat I can't see...
