I've seen somewhere that you can pick up that padded cabinet stuff like you would buy to line the bottom of kitchen cabinets. Use it for a mask and spray with black and gray and you'll end up with a 5ft carbon fiber look. Much cheaper and easier. Here's a clip:

Fiberglass is nothing to be scared of. Just read and read and read about it until you feel like you've done it before and then buy the stuff and go at it. Footholds are pretty easy as is shortening a stock pole. there are a ton of writeups about it if you search and weed out the useless...

props on getting the surf zone in the works. That's a huge step in the right direction for legal surf riding access and it should help them a bit to be a destination spot for others that might pass by on their way to the east coast.
