Your compession on the 650 is way to low. For a stock motor you should be running 150psi in each cylinder. 120 psi is about the lowest you can go on a engine before it just doesnt want to go anymore. I would suggest putting a new topend in the ski and that sould solve your problem. As far...

It will work but if you want the most out of the engine I would drill out the water box so it will flow better and but a pjs or coffman pipe on it. That is just what I suggest. I run a PJS pipe on my 750 swap with a coffman water box and the noise really isnt that bad.

You could also just buy a R&D pole spring tensioner.
