It has a few wrinkles in it that will come out when the seat is on the machine, like most Yamaha seat bases this one has gotten really weak over the years and the vinyl is pulling it slightly out of whack.
Considering my starting point I will call it a success .
Torque wrench is here , it's quite interesting , it's smaller than the Kobalt wrench I haven't fond yet which in the tight confines of a sitdown engine compartment is a really good thing , end to end it measures 14 inches, at least now we know the website is legit.
Todays project , a really F'ed up ATV seat , cut the damaged foam out , replace , reshape and recover , I will finish it up and post up the completed seat .
Funny you should say that , the Nippon Denso ignition unit on my 86 Yota went out , those are around $300.00 , so guess what's on there now , a GM HEI module and a coil for a Chevy truck, it has worked flawlessly like that for years now.
Basically what we are telling you is that no one here can tell you exactly what is making your ticking noise , we can give it our best educated guess but that's it , if I had the machine here in person I could probably crank it up, listen to it and tell you , but sight unseen and not heard I or...
Usually what happens on these is they are completely worn out because the pistons are single ring pistons , compression on these is already low , then someone slaps a high compression head on a worn out top end and since it now has compression again it runs ok for a short period of time till it...
I have to ask what kind of compression gauge are you using , if that's a piston port motor it does not run that kind of compression, a reed valve motor does at any rate most likely the piston to cylinder wall clearance is way out of spec.
I return calls also , I don't always get to answer the phone because I am working with my hands and doing various and often noisy stuff , but I do try to return every single call , if nothing else to let them know I got the call and to update them on what is going on with their machine or when...
Today I am finally rebuilding the tool trailer , it's over 4 ft wide so plywood was going to be a PITA and expensive so I used tongue and groove 1 x 6 's for the floor , the chassis was a rusty mess, all of it was sanded down , painter with Black Rustoleum then over that with Rustoleum...
This is a Goki 550 Super starter motor I pulled off my 91 reed 550 when I sold it , at this point the chances of me ever building another 550 are extremely slim and if I do build one it will have a 650 -750 motor in it .
Goki was a company that made electric start kits for ATV's that did not...
I laid up a piece on the top just to hold it together , when that dried I removed the tape , now it's time to fill the crack. I mixed up a small amount of epoxy and cabosil and filled the crack , the I positioned it so gravity does all the work and then let it dry .
