Well I ended up selling my 1911 right after I bought these new carbon creations grips. Still have the grips and figured someone on here might want them, asking 60 shipped.
I was starting to run low on resin and didnt want to get caught short in the middle of glassing so I decided to hold off until I could get more. Ill finally be picking a gallon up tomorrow and I also found a local supplier for plexus as well as a company to mandrel bend the exhaust. Today I...
Thanks! I was planning to leave the glass over the engine mount plates and drill the holes out once I'm done. I waxed the threads before I wiped everything down and did the two layers of biax so I'm hoping I can run a tap through them to clean them up.
Thanks a lot, that certainly helps to...
I made a template and then I lightly dusted the fabric with 3m 77 spray adhesive and placed wax paper on top. The wax paper helps for drawing out the template and also helps to keep the edges clean when your cutting.
I was kinda thinking there might be some minimal benefit to having it out the side so no water would be forced directly up it when landing tail first but who knows.
Thanks Chris! I saw the exhaust coming out the side on one of the brawlers at wavedaze and thought it looked pretty cool so I decided to give it a try.
Whats so annoying about it? Darkwaters Rok-R has it coming out the side and I didnt notice anything wrong with it. Please explain the proper way.
Wasnt able to work on the nose more. The milled fibers I put down lastnight to fill the gaps in the rocker still havent fully cured, but I did get a few layers of biax on the motor mounts and the scupper holes in the bulkhead.
Yea these scissors are no joke! They are actually made for cutting kevlar, they go through this biax like butter. As I understand it the php intake doesnt space the reeds out which keeps the crank case volume lower to increase torque.
The nasty part of this project that has been constantly haunting me is finally done! Who knows how many hours Ive spent cutting, stripping, grinding and sanding. Today I picked up a bunch of supplies including carbon, biax and a pair of beastly scissors. I got some of the biax down in the nose...
I almost have the engine bay fully prepped just need to do the nose and under the hood seal. This was a lot of work, I took down a good amount of material to make sure Ive got a strong bite into solid glass. I started with a 36 grit flap disc on a 4" grinder, then used a 36 grit pad on a die...
Jeremy look into the php, I was originally going to go with the boyesen as well.
Thanks blair. Are you on the lakes area freeriders page on facebook? We had a pretty awesome ride going on duck lake this past weekend you should have been out there!
Still taking baby steps with the ski, trying...
Need some two part foam to finish my attempt at a splash guard but probably wont worry about that for a while. I spent some time sanding the engine bay and then moved on to the exhaust. I mocked it up with pvc and will hopefully be taking the aluminum to a muffler shop to have them bend it. Im...
