piston port is a 550 thing. all 650sx had reeds. it is pre '91 since the exhaust is not on the rear. the last two digits of the HIN will be the year. Look on the back right corner on top of the bond rail for the HIN.

Sorry if this sounds silly but do you have a pisser/pissers that let the hot water out off the head and dump overboard? The line from the pump is an cooling input, describe the routing of how water is leaving your engine.
