    Hooker pitches for strokers

OK, so 6mm spaced prop - no good, still too tall. I tossed in the shorty cone, and it brought things down a tiny bit, but not enough. I'm thinking I'm going to end up at an 11-17 (or a 10-16), no spacers, stock cone. Like Phillip Clemmons said, there's a bunch of tuning involved to get it just...

    Hooker pitches for strokers

I just got some spacer washers to move the prop away from the stator. They are about 3mm thick, and I installed two (2) yesterday. I'm hoping to get on the water tonight and see just how much 6mm will "unload" the pump. I love the mid-range pull of my 13-19 Hooker, but want to free up the motor...

    Thanks guys!

    one flatwater backflip (that's it)

Thanks man!!! I only wish I was nosing THEM in (right now it's only one).

The way your super light boat runs, I bet I could nose one in. It's just your shorty trim lever that throws me off a little.

    one flatwater backflip (that's it)

I hear ya on the squat thing. I'm thinking that I almost need to get my butt on the gunwales before I launch. It's all part of the timing thing, and I need to get my prop set-up working right first before I start fiddling with my timing. I specifically have not ridden the thunder pumpkin...

    one flatwater backflip (that's it)

Basically, you keep looking forward as your 'tossing' the ski over your head, and therefore you end up watching the tray/between your ankles as it leaves the set-up wave. After that, the only thing you can do is whip your head and spot the landing. In order to look far enough, you have to thrust...

I might take you up on that - just so that I can cut down on shipping time back and forth to Dave for tuning.

Impros Hooker 13-19. I had a concord 13-16 3mm cutback that worked decent - no lag.

    one flatwater backflip (that's it)

Interesting...It definitely needed more fuel. I couldn't get it to really 'burble' even though I had the highs out at 2 turns on one occasion. Maybe a re-jet is in order.

    one flatwater backflip (that's it)

It almost feels like I need to re-jet. I tuned a bunch tonight and ended up at 1-1/2 low speed and 1-1/2 high speed. I'll probably try to talk to Chuckie or Radney next week and see if anything needs to be done. Your "little" 800 is a freak of nature!!

    one flatwater backflip (that's it)

I DON'T have one - I was commenting on how much MORE power it would take to turn that prop with a TBM stuffer.

    Hooker pitches for strokers

85.5mm bored SJ nozzle with stock cone. I wonder if I should try a short cone and see if that loosens things up a little?

    one flatwater backflip (that's it)

Well, the change in wake set-up helped me get on the gas earlier, as well as the stare at the tray - then whip your head and spot the landing technique. I was on the gas for a loooooooooooooong time (kinda freaked me out!) I would say that's the key for an 800cc engine and an almost stock weight...

Thanks - I think! If I can't duplicate the trick, then I'm not sure if it counts.....

    one flatwater backflip (that's it)

Well, tonight was the best and worst ride ever. On the good side, I hit a flatwater backflip on my 5th attempt! I came out of the tray before the nose went in, but I subbed out of it. I was soooo stoked, I lined back up and tried another - FAIL! The next 20 that I tried all sucked donkey balls...

    Hooker pitches for strokers

I just got done fiddling with a 13/19 Hooker tonight. I went from a 13/16, 3mm cutback concord. It felt like someone put a spring on my throttle cable. My motor does not have enough off-idle pop to get this thing moving. Once I'm on plane and have the rev's up, it pulls like no-ones buisiness...

    2008 XFT Fly X + X SCREAM 1000

DUDE..... That thing is going to fly! What pump set-up did you go with? Patrick was telling me a little about that motor - there's some serious love inside there.

How far forward should I mount my footholds?

The filler isn't necessary, but it ensures you won't have any leaks. If you don't use filler, you will probably want to use more layers of glass (like 4 or more) in order to completely seal the foothold. You want to lay the widest layer first, then work your way to the skinniest. I'd recommend...

How far forward should I mount my footholds?

If you use some filler before you lay the glass, then I would say it's ok to glass over them. I use 404 filler and mix it to peanut butter consistency.
