We run our 1200 at about 120°, the RRP pipe about 125 to 130° and the RRP water box I would love to get to 130 to 140° but with no water in it at all, it only gets up to about 129°. You don’t want water to sizzle on the RRP water box but if water steams that’s about right.
I think that unrestricted 3/8 line is too much water. How hot does the WB get? Can you hold your hand on it for 5 seconds? My guess it's warm at best. Just clamp the line off and go for a quick ride, you'll know real quick if it gains you some power or fixes your other issue.
We use an infrared heat gun to check temps. Ride for five or 10 minutes, then get to shore quick and get the hood off. Check the temperatures as fast as you can. If you wait too long, the engine will actually heat up after you shut it off.
I’m no expert and obviously each set up is different...
What are the temps?
Water box - (if you’re running a 3/8 line to the water box that’s way too much water).
Pipe
Cylinder/ head
Check when running good and bad.
What’s the water temperature and the air temperature?
How much water do you have running to the exhaust manifold?
My trucks lowered 2 inches in the back just to level it out and we use a Hitch Hauler all the time. As said above it’s not like you’re putting 1000 pound couch on the Hitch hauler. Rather than worry about raising the truck up, I would simply get the receiver that someone suggested above to...
Everybody’s definition and needs in chasing boats is different. LOTO is a very rough lake on weekends and we’ve been chasing boats and jumping for decades in very rough washing machine type conditions. In those conditions, we have found the people with bigger power don’t necessarily do better...
I ran the Solas pump for a few years in our SXR, it worked great, less cavitation. Like any pump switch there’s always things you have to figure out, waterlines, nozzles, etc. but overall it was pretty easy.
Years ago I bought a beat up 96 Kawasaki ZXI 1100 for the engine core and the exhaust chamber was cracked from water that froze inside it. Most of our skis have aftermarket pipes, heads, inter-coolers and cooling mods, so none of them self drain anymore. The 100% stock ones do self drain.
For some strange reason I like working on old trailers. I picked up this old jon boat trailer for $45 at a yard sale. One wheel was frozen up and the tires were rotted.
The frame and axle were pretty solid and like WFO, I can always use another yard trailer. I shortened the tongue...
We have an RRP pole, but it looks kind of the same. We cut the end off the spring.
In this pic it shows the location of the pole bolt and spring position behind the tubes.
On our setup the end of the spring where you cut it off sits under the flexible tubes, it doesn't go into the hose...
