I've had good luck sliding the driveshaft into a lathe, you can clamp very close to the impeller then and remove the shaft flex.

Now that you have yours all ground down, can you tell what is going on with the pole bracket area? It looks to me like there is a separate piece glassed into the topdeck to act as a pole bracket "bucket". I have a little concern that this could have some of the same structural issues as the rest...

Unlikely you would get that to work, might work for the first one but getting the second past that or trying to get the first one to skip the first groove and into the second would be near impossible.

If you are really good with a long pick and screw driver, you may be able to pull them out with the midshaft in the ski but I wouldn't count on it.

I'd say that is a safe assumption. The only other way it could really get in is through the hole in your coupler, but that would require a coupler with a hole in the middle, and for the plug to be missing, and for your hull to be filled with water up to it.
