From what little research I've done, the 900 is supposed to have better port timing for this application than the 1100. I was going to just buy an 1100 engine, but have been swayed towards the 900 with a little porting and head mods.

The odd thing it is that there's no signs of heat on either end of the rod, no scoring in the cylinder, no signs of water intrusion, both bearings are still free and smooth and there's a nice film of oil on everything......guess it just decided to let go for the F of it??

If you're transitioning from an SXR, you'll probably prefer the SJ.......The FX-1 is harder to ride, but fun as hell !

I scrape all that green goo and foam out of that area and fill it with glass or epoxy with 404 filler. You want the front of the pump shoe to be 1/8" protruding below the surface of the hull. At the rear of the pump, it should be 3-1/2" to 3-5/8" when measuring from the very tip of the stock 650...

I trim all mine from the top. You can take 2-3/4" off the top before you get into the curvature. When you take the length off the top, the pole will still follow the lines of the hood. When you take it off the bottom it doesn't fit the hood anymore. Not sure if this is only FXs vs SJs? If you...

I rode 550s for years and the only ski I've ever felt comfortable on is the FX. Everything else I've tried felt huge and heavy. I've ridden the Richter and the Matrix and they're probably great if you're transitiioning frpm a Superjet, but from an FX (or 550), they feel large and heavy.......no...

I'm running a 16/21 6mm setback skat swirl with an R&D pump cone. So far, it seems to be working well.

A quickie update......I added two bypasses and diverted some water out of the mufflers and it woke right up! Response is good, it idles well and the powerband is incredibly smooth, it feels like an electric motor! It is still a little muddy at topend though and I think I'm going to have to play...

Thanks for the pics Chief!!! It did well for it's first run but I definitely need to dry out the exhaust some...it's very quiet but very restrictive. I'll do a little re-plumbing tomorrow and give it another go. The extra weight doesn't seem to effect the handling at all....it was instantly...
