check the fitting at the pump. I had one that was cracked and you would never know while the pump was installed.

bendix has little ears that hold the weights in place that can/will break off and cause issues. There is a thread on here somewhere with how to rebuild it.

I keep a 12" piece of fuel line in my engine bay now. I run the starter with the stop button held down to prime the carbs/fuel lines. Then suck up a little gas out of the tank and spit it in the to carb. That will give me a weekend of easy starts. Normally have to do it again after a week or so...

You will screw it up more then that after you move the engine to put the rubber biscuit back in.
