yes you can. use at least 25 year caulk on the orings. i fail to see an issue with the cylinder other than some paint flaking off.i say run as is.

it's a factory kawa part that was polished. the old 440/550 had them before kawi started using plastic ones. i have a black powder coated one you could strip and polish
