I have shortened pole and xmetal bars.. I usually leave the cover off, unless going long distances, and of course in winter storage.

next summer we should do an ohio meet. like somewhere in cbus or something central. I'd like to meet some ohio guys.

my sj came with a stock cover, but it was beat. it was old and very rough and stiff. It would scratch the paint for sure, so I pitched it. There also was no soft layer sewn in on the inside to protect the ski... I dunno if they have improved the stock cover since 99.

for the price of an oem, I would imagine you could get a little nicer one.

I'm not gonna turf the entire rail jsut around the back to where the stock side guards start. Cause the corner caps I put back on catch water now and it causes it to create two fountains on either side of the ski which spew up and into the tray. plus it crates alot of drag in corners.
