These are not cars people that revs up as the car speeds up
When you grab the throttle the engine flares up in rpm and then the ski catches up.
If your engine is tuned to get to its top rpm then its also right in the midrange it takes hp to get to that top rpm under load

I found on my ported 760 superjet
48novis , type 9 pipe , digital ignition that a 140 mag was to much for it
yes i did alot of propp testing it just dragged the ski to the water to much and the boat felt heavy
they chaged the rules in that class and i went back to a big hub with a tbm pump...

Does anyone wonder why they try and make two strokes a square bore to stroke ratio in all the gp bikes ??
Better power the tz 125 was never able to get a look in when it came to racing until they went square bore stroke ratio
To over bore an engine to hell...
Its a whole redesign on the bottom of the hull not just sponsons and a set back pump
There is no reason for them to put the 760
the 701 is a great engine and you can modify it how you like

But when you consider that that the exhaust gases and fresh air goes out of the engine and into the exhaust
not only will you be blocking new air in but also new air out
anything that raises thermal efficiency is going to help your fuel economy the same goes for mechanical efficiency
Things that improve your volumetric efficiency well that depends on the throttle loading
