Its not the size of the carb but the signal strength it delievers
This is why a novi can pull harder on a jet than a stock 46
To stipulate a carb size you need to stipulate a carb brand there are some carbs out there that have crap signal and there are some that dont.

The riva carb is a copy of the buckshot. after that andrew started doing the brm carb wich was full billet
These were heaps better than the magnums except he changed them so they didnt use mikuni needle and seat this made it almost impossible to source them when they wore out.

Yes you could mill the cases but then the cases are also modified and no longer work on anything else. I would modify the part thats already to much first
you could remove the sleeves and machine the base of the cylinder this would poke the piston out the top of the head then clearance the head to accept this
yes its a rivia carb, glad some one got some to work.
They are a copy of a buck shot as i am lead to believe.
And buckshots are known for there massive power and metering as well
