    x-metal waterbox

Not sure of the exact material, but it is fuelproof. I used one for a couple seasons as a fuel tank blockoff without problems. You can find them in the Home Depot plumbing section. They are caps used for plumbing and they come with stainless clamps.

    x-metal waterbox

It's not that loud. The guy I ride with has one and it has a really cool, unique deep sound. Only slightly loauder than stock. It's not raspy or high-pitched annoyingly loud. I had one but sent it back for him to redo one of the baffles (mine was the first production one and he had some...

    How to figure CC's

Also, you can have a well-prepped 701cc that will blow the pants off a half-witted-built or parts-mismatched 785cc.

    How to figure CC's

Agreed. I used to be all into the numbers game, but I learned that unless you are taking a huge leap, like 700 to 800, there's not a lot of difference, assuming proper machine work and build.

    How to figure CC's

Assuming the guy was correct in stating 2 over, and it was originally a 701, I'm thinking his bore is 83mm.

    How to figure CC's

Math time (Wax, you're a teacher, right, so this is right up your alley). The ccs are found by calculating the volume of two cylinders, one for each bore (basic 7th grade math). The formula would therefore be: 2 x pi x r x r x h pi = 3.1415927 (no units) r = half your bore, or bore...

    Can a plug just die?

I would stay with the BR8ES plugs. Run a fresh set to see if it happens on the same cylinder again. It could be indicitive a of a different problem, other than a plug just going bad.

    Yamaha 701 in X2???

Perhaps you could talk to Steve (Watercraft factory). He makes a complete bedplate assembly that gets glassed into his hulls. You could put this into the X2.

Prototype SJ stand- please give feedback

That is slick. A lot of thought went into that. I like the small casters that allow the upper piece to glide as it get higher. Could you add some wheels or casters to the front so that the user doesn't have to do any back-breaking lifting, or would that mess up the stability on elevating...

*&^#@# I through my fing backout picking up the sj!

I was just going to post something regarding this as a general tip. I just returned from a two-week trip to CA and had nit ridden my ski for a while so I was anxious. I did the same exact thing when lifting the tongue of my trailer and pulling it over to my truck. I was not going to let...

have sticker gook on my jet, what stuff to get it off?

Apply heat with a hair dryer or let it sit in the sun for a few minutes, ten peel away the old stuff. Acetone works good to get the residue off and as long as it is an OEM or quality paint job, the acetone will not affect it.

    Don't ask...Identify components.

Then I'm pretty sure that's a Skat Trak (aftermarket) pump and reduction nozzle. The replaceable ring at the outlet is not OEM Yamaha and I'm pretty sure the 12 vanes on the pump are not OEM either.

    Don't ask...Identify components.

See the reduction nozzle picture. It has a replacable ring at the end. This is to be able to vary the reduction nozzle diameter. Seadoo used this on their late 90's GSX's I think (other applications also). Is this a production ski, or is this something that was crafted for special purpose...

    Don't ask...Identify components.

Looks to be a Skat 12-vane pump. Interesting, it has what appears to be a speedo wheel on the lower right of the plate. I'd say it's Seadoo, not Yamaha. The Yamaha reduction nozzles bolt upward to the tunnel. Seadoo is like this one and bolts onto the pump with the four bolts.

Anyone ever hear of using a WB or WR nozzle on a SJ?

Exactly (that you're ready to go with the trim system). Rig it (or re-rig it) for now and enjoy.

    Carbon Fiber Exhaust Tube

If anyone is interested in running a carbon fiber exhaust tube, MacLean Composites has them at an overrun discount price ($98.00 is pretty good for carbon fiber). http://www.macqc.com/clearance.php I am running the 2.54" OD in my Watercraft Factory hull, but to be honest, if you can get...

    NC Surf and Turf Pics

Nice shots. Question: On number 40, where is Paul, beside the boat, or right up almost on the transom? That picture almost looks Photoshopped:smile:

Anyone ever hear of using a WB or WR nozzle on a SJ?

Yeah, that's a Waveraider trim setup locked in position, I'm quite sure. If I were you, I would engineer a way to fix it in the straight position, like I mentioned, maybe just a spring. As you progress in riding, you will want that trimability and all you have to do is run a tube and cable...

Anyone ever hear of using a WB or WR nozzle on a SJ?

Do you recall if there is a collar attached to the piece that you circled? A 4-5" (approx) collar that fits in the space between the steering nozzle and reduction nozzle? It looks like you have a trim system that someone just never hooked up teh cable and is sitting in a fixed position. If...
