*&^#@# I through my fing backout picking up the sj!

I cant believe this happened! My brother in law and me go to toss the superjet in back of the truck and I get my side about 6 inches off the ground and bam! Like someone stuck a knife in my lower back! Soo! All day yesterday on the couch and today at least I can sit for a while! I've been eating 800mg Ibuprofen like chicklets! Anybody else know any good recovery
techniques? I definately cannot even think about riding like this! Thanks for any advice! Also be warned from my mistake these thing are heavy on the back! And believe me the pain is not worth trying to pick them up with at least 3 people! Just so you guys know, I am 6-2 and 205 lbs so its not the size it is the back! Thanks for any advice!

Sorry to hear about your back. A blunt might help:)

Work out your lower back, and/or lift with your legs.

I was just going to post something regarding this as a general tip. I just returned from a two-week trip to CA and had nit ridden my ski for a while so I was anxious. I did the same exact thing when lifting the tongue of my trailer and pulling it over to my truck.

I was not going to let that stop me from riding today though.

I grabeed the 6" diameter x 36"L Pilates foam roller that I got a while ago and rolled over it for about five minutes. It was very painful in my lower back the first few rolls, but got better. After five minutes of doing this I was able to stand up straight again and ride.

I rode for about 15 minutes and then the lightning came. Back feeels fine though. I'd recommend getting one of these foam rollers. It's cheaper than an inversion machine or professional massages.

Good luck with the back.

Yea Thanks for all the advice guys- I have picked up plenty of skis and I did use my legs and it still happened! My chiropractor told me that it could have happened tying my shoe! Just happened to hit it wrong, but that weight certainly does not help! I do own a trailer, but was just easier to toss it in the truck (or so I thought)! It actually is starting to get better this afternoon and being it is raining and will continue tommorrow I dont feel like I lost the weekend at least! Yea and I probably would cough with my luck! The Ibuprofen is good enough, I think the gf has some percocet from her knee surgery left but, that ******** really messes with my stomach! Maybe a couple Sammy A"s tonight will do the trick! Thanks again Guys Hopefully I will be riding next weekend , Only with the trailer this time!

Screw the pain killers.
My back has been screwed up since I was in High School and a variant of a roller(as mentioned above) , heat packs and a hard flat surface to sleep on has always worked for me.

Get back down to Florida, the heat has a way of fixing these aches and pains.

Thanks Boris-
I cant believe I did this! It will probably be fine by next weekend. I am trying
to get back down there probably 2nd week of July - What have you done - doing to your ski?

Right now I'm working on a spare hood. You know, the usual hand holds and stuff.

If you get here the second week of July than don't miss the South West Florida Ski Fest at Lovers Key.
I have my room booked for the entire weekend of fun on the water.
Be there!!!

I will definately go, I have to put the new topend on the kawi ( Its still here in N.J.) So if that gos smoothly I'll make it, either way I will hook up with you guys one weekend while Im in Ft. Myers. Has Tim (guy with sxr) completed a back flip yet? I read he was trying, but havent seen him on here for a while?

No back flips yet.
There hasn't been any surf to speak of since that storm went by.
Tim wasn't out last weekend, I think he's working on securing his hood. He lost it while riding and had to dive down to pull the ski out.
We got it running but since this wasn't the first time his hood flew off, he might be doing something about it.

I'm trying some nose stabs of boat wakes but it's hard to lift the back of the ski without footholds and sun screen all over everything.
Nice and slippery:biggthumpup:

 yea he was doing some pretty long subs! I should probably try to secure my hoods:bigeyes: The footholds really hold you in a lot better, I can email you some pics of what your up against if you want.

Send them, I kind of know what it takes to put them in.
I think I have the theory down just need the practice in glassing.
I'm about to mix up my first batch of resin right now.
