The UMI will save a little weight, be much stronger, and look alot better. A Rd nose SJ pole will do all the above as well.... and cost way less.... but will require a little custom fab. A stock rd nose pole will also be ligher then the UMI. The Hood will defenitly help for what you want...

The best way to go is a KLX 110. It has the bigger 12/14 wheels, and the entire bike stock holds up awsome! Throw on a Works or Elka shock-> (if you have the jingle) and stiff springs and dampning rods for the front, and Moto out! Trail bikes also offer's big bores and big valve heads for dirt...

If fuel wasnt so expensive I would drive the trip again. I was broke for a couple months after driving out last time. I may have to get a flight in and hang... But I dont think I can get a rental car only being 23yrs old.
