    Melted Piston

I never could "hole" a watercraft piston, they always got tight and stopped the engine first.

You'll have to imagine you're feeling it. A loud waterbox makes it easier.

    Noise complaints

Intake noise is very loud with the hood off but not bad with it on. . Pump vibration amplified by the hull is loudest next to exhaust. Its a cultural issue, we CAN make skis quiet if we wanted to. I remember hearing nothing but the pump and water spray while riding a stock 750sx. It has an...

impeller has 1/8" rotational slop, please advise.

You may have a tough time getting keihin jetting numbers to reverse. The mains are sized the same as mikuni but the pilots are not. A keihin 85 is like a mikuni 130. A carbon or thin sheetmetal lower pipe would be the ticket for weight savings. Make sure to keep it round and make a flange for...

    701 vs 760 ignitions

This hobby has an extremely high turnover rate. Most of this was common knowledge before many that are now asking were born.

impeller has 1/8" rotational slop, please advise.

Air in the fuel line can increase combustion temps. Its good to prevent this on anything that does long full throttle runs. Basically I pump fuel into a small header tank and return excess fuel and any air back to the main tank. The carbs never get air and the fuel mixture stays consistent.

impeller has 1/8" rotational slop, please advise.

Im using an (now) old PET tach, the $5 ebay tachs do not update fast enough but there has to be an affordable pulse tach that does. I don't worry about temps as long as the compression and timing are below widely accepted maximums. Of course, no one is happy until they stick a piston...

Whats wrong with Mikuni I bodies?

The aftermarket never modified them nor did they ever make manifolds for them. I-body carbs have larger venturis than SBN. They flow more air and require larger main jets. This also makes them less tolerant of being too big for a small engine. Some custom modified SBNs incorporate a vortex...

    DISCONTINUING THE SUPERJET????

They could make a new Waveblaster by changing only the top half.

What happens in the superjet when it verheats?

The heat sensor will slow the engine to idle if the head gets too hot. It is set really low so I engage it every time I blow the water out after a ride. It is still possible to stick a piston with normal water temperature. Any damage will show up on a compression test. One cylinder will be...

impeller has 1/8" rotational slop, please advise.

I always power tune WOT 20 rpm rich of peak on glass, have not stuck a piston since. My main jets usually end up larger than what is posted on the internet. Sometimes by a lot!

    DISCONTINUING THE SUPERJET????

They had to dump the twostroke, they didn't have to make it ugly. Ill buy one just to make my old X2 feel better about the way it looks.

    DISCONTINUING THE SUPERJET????

Looks like they tried to make it go with the new chevy truck. They may as well stick a gold Bentley grille on the front of that pig. The rest of it is gawdy enough.

'93 Stock blaster, 61x worth modifying?

If your impeller is a concorde, have it pitched down. Impros was raising the trailing edge and calling it a 13/16, they work almost as good as the new large hubs. Stock plastic and straight walled metal nozzles cant be bored much. A common 62t nozzle or aftermarket Pro-tec can be bored much...

    DISCONTINUING THE SUPERJET????

WOW, if forged pistons will add 20hp then a K&N filter should be worth at least 100hp!

impeller has 1/8" rotational slop, please advise.

A Single 44 on a 650 that is over loaded probably wont like 50+lbs of pop-off. That combo will have the weakest signal of anything except maybe a single carb rotax. It will end up reverse jetted with that.

    New Problem

Your carb is too big for that application. Install a stock flame arrestor and open the top screw 2 turns. See how that works. I have a feeling that you will need very large main jet even with a stock flame arrestor.

impeller has 1/8" rotational slop, please advise.

Both splines wear. The problem was a combination of Skats use of a loose fitting O-ring for a seal and the owners failure to maintain clean/lubed splines. Solas had much better seals and would last forever provided everything was installed properly.

impeller has 1/8" rotational slop, please advise.

All 650s had short splines and the seals weren't as good, they tend to wear fast after the grease is washed out. Run it until the splines strip, it will probably go a long time. If you want to fix it right, have a 750 impeller machined to fit a 650 pump and use a 750 ss/xi driveshaft. Its rare...

First picture of 2021 Waverunner including Superjet

Most riders today cant ride a 550 to its full potential. Yamaha will have to heavily promote a class that excludes fast old boats and somehow handicap the new SXR. It would be easy to do for the race organizers but the manufactures are in control.
