The "charge" coil does tend to fail on the older Yamaha twins.

    Fx1 motor blew up!

LOTS of water ingestion/intrusion will steam clean the piston top and dome, and keep all the lube washed off the piston so that it scores and usually locks up. A little bit at a time leaves that sludgy grey substance you see on the piston. All the while causing detonation and eating away at...

    Fx1 motor blew up!

That's from water ingestion. Probably a leaky head or base gasket.

The right thing to do would be test the components with a volt/ohm meter.

Other What did you fab up today? A thread for the home fabricators!

I don't know much about it yet, other than it has good reviews. Previous owner bought it new early 2020 and has tried running it for a total of maybe 4-6 hours. He just couldn't figure out how to weld.

Latest activity on this................RE-reupholster the pole pad. YEP, she just didn't think the silver vinyl was jiving with the paint job. Now it's 'marbled' white, like the paint. Also we got a couple of the custom decals applied.

I can tell you for sure that if the throttle on a GP1300r is adjusted too tightly and opened a little bit it WILL NOT fire.

    Sn 650 vs 701 value

Honestly, either one can built up as your riding experience progresses, and the 650 should be enough for a couple seasons anyway. If the 650 is in good shape the extra money can be put towards mods as you get better at riding. Look for cracks on the handlepole, and sloppy pole pivot areas. Also...

This why you take stuff to people who know what they are doing.

I do my own injectors. I did a set for a Chevy 5.3 today. It's a 2500 cargo van I bought that had been sitting about 3 years. It ran very poorly and had 2 completely stuck injectors, and 1 very dirty one. One of the stuck ones freed up with a few screwdriver handle taps while powered up and...

Yes, the rear caps all interchange. I can stick one on there from a polaris 750 or a 62T or a Kawasaki 900. I'm sure I have a twin rear cap around. I can swap that on in about 30 seconds.
