    Other Xlt1200 keeps melting pistons

I have a couple customers that I've repaired failed SBT engines for. One of them is a pretty well modded 1300fi. I've not had problems running their sleeved cylinders at .0045-.005" clearance. Any tighter and your in trouble. Same goes for sleeved Ultra 150 cylinders, and anything Seadoo 951.

    Other Xlt1200 keeps melting pistons

That dimpling appears to be debris damage. Maybe a bit of metal leftover sitting in the exhaust manifold got sucked back into the cylinder. Everything MUST be clean to assemble one of these big bore 2 strokes and make it last. You also NEED to check the fuel pickup assembly trap door at the...

    Seadoo HX

Like you said earlier though.....it really doesn't matter. Most manufacturing facilities have the ability to make top quality products. Some choose not to, others just build what the customer told them to build. If the customer wants a container load of baby chicks (cheap cheap cheap), then...

    Seadoo HX

Here's another fun fact......my wife worked for a few years in a local factory, in shipping. On a couple different occasions they unboxed 'things' and peeled off "Made in *" stickers to replace with "Made in the USA", then reboxed to ship out. Totally against the law.

550sx to 750 "All or Nothing" build

I'm watching more paint dry........ I had just a bit of paint left over. I flipped it upside down and scuff sanded the bottom outer edges into the first chine. And from the rear up to the pump. These seem to be the areas that take the most wear. I went ahead and used up the paint in those areas...

    My ski's were stolen.

I'll be on the lookout down south. I'm always a bit perplexed when people don't have insurance......but we MUST have it to ride down here. Big fines and a court 'must appear' if you dont.

    Is this ski worth it?

Here's what I can tell you. If the molded in sponsons and paint were done correctly it was 3k at minimum! There will be 150 or more hours just in labor. Cut that in half for........well, half-a$$ work. So yes, should be worth that amount. Not being able to go WOT is a bull$h!t answer from...

    Cavitation question Kawi 750SS 2-Seater

Common issue on those is the plastic pump shoe. They will break right where it meets the pump. Or crack off to one side. Sometimes they are completely loose! Get it off the ski, fill the voids in with foam except 1/4". Then top it with epoxy resin and shape it. I've never had any return issues...

I promise I'm trying to work on it every chance I get. Almost everything else it prepped and painted and ready to assemble. It should move much more quickly now.

    re sleeving

You can actually see that I did end up whacking it real good with a chisel to bust it out. Part of it is laying at the bottom of that cylinder pic.

    re sleeving

And this is one of the things I did today. I put 3 new sleeves in a 65u 1200 cylinder. 2 went pretty easy and I had to fight the damaged one. Overall took right at 2 hours. I use the bolts and washers to keep the sleeves in place as I work and keep them there while everything cools.

1986 550 hull seperation bond rail splitting

I did not. With the thickened epoxy and the split opened up, you can push/mash the epoxy right up in there. I smeared it up in there first with the tongue depresser. Then with a gloved finger just push it in like your packing a bearing with grease.
