That is the gp1200 end. I answered my own question. The blaster has a spring loaded deal that goes over the ball on the steering nozzle and the superjet does as well so they are not the same. But, the 2988K31 part will work on the GP. I think.

This is the crappy yamaha piece that splits open and detaches from the steering cable that part 2988K31 will replace. Does anyone know if this part is standard across the yamaha line? Will the same replacement fit a SJ and a Blaster, and a GP1200?

I agree side mount from the left. It can be done from the right but the risk of getting water in the cylinders/crankcases is not worth it imo. Personally I prefer the rear mount as I don't use a lanyard there is no need to reattach it.

That looks to be a Mach I. The f series was polished looking stainless I think. Those like to crack mounts from what I've heard.
