Where to ride on the Carolina's coast?

We have a group more than ready to make a surf trip from Tennessee this fall but don't know where to go. Years ago we'd put in at Murrell's inlet and ride out. That was fine, but we were on run-a-bouts then. We'd be out of gas by the time we made it to the surf now...

I guess our main objective is to find a place with a ramp very close to the surf (stand-up friendly). Like I said, anywhere in the Carolinas.

Any input with info on ramp locations would be a huge help.

I understand pwc are not allowed through the inlets or on the Atlantic beaches in NC. We ride out of Virginia Beach just north of the border but I'd hate to recommend a road trip here because riding the shorebreak is illegal here May 1 - Oct 15.

I know you said Carolina, but these TN landlockers drive the extra mileage for Daytona. Well worth it....:arms: :arms:

I always used to vacation right there at Ponce Inlet. That would be great riding, but it's a 7 hour vs. 12 trip. We'll have friends coming and going, and it will just be alot easier if we're closer.

You can go through any of the inlets on NC's coast. You just can't park your ski within about 150 feet of the low tide mark at any of the national seashore beaches. That is basically the entire northern half of NC's coast. I ride the atlantic beach area. Surf is usually good there and you can beach on the ocean side with no problems.
