i also had a wamiltons scoopgrate on my last sj. it also worked very well, and if i came accross another one id probly buy it to replace my current solas one. but i havent seen many around latley and im not sure they make it anymore. i may be wrong tho
thats pretty neat. ive worked on opposed piston engines but they had 2 crankshafts, with both pistons in the same cylinder. they were 10 cyl, and had 20 pistons eash. 4 engines total...made for a lot of measuring! they were made by fairbanks morse and were about 2200 hp each i believe.
i like...
i didnt like either. i had the 2's on my sj, and didnt notice a difference. went back to stock. my buddy had the 3's on his sxr and is back to stock now because they no longer seal (after half a season). both boats didnt get any more air, or pull any harder. big fat waste of 250 bucks IMO.
i find the grease can make it harder to push the drive shaft all the way in, only cuz you cant compress grease very well. so when you move it around and wiggle it you are pushing the excess out thru the splines. and since the splines are a tight tolerance its hard for the thick grease to move...
i got the solas double scoop grate. i think it works fine. im running it with a hooker 9/15 and never have any cavatation issues. it was way cheaper then a worx too
my ski drips black goo onto the trailer when i run it too...but my dirtbike has black goo leaking from the exhaust coupler and tailpipe both mixed 40:1 i just figured it was normal. both still rip and i see no other problems
i too am 5'11'' and i chopped 4'' off my handle pole and im quite happy with it. i felt a bit hunched over until i d cut my rideplate and it brought the nose up, straightening out my back (when i was in the footholds) . those 2 mods went together well IMO and cost very little
those merc 200's and 250's came in a lot of sea doo jetboats. they are a pretty nice set up and would probly work awsome for your boat. maybe find a seadoo boat with one in it and use all the motor/pump, steering, throttle controls, lights and hardware maybe even gas tank. it might save a lot of...
ya we wanna know...did you or didint you start it with solder dropped in the engine? surely you had to know if you were gonna lie and tell people you ran an engine with solder in the cylinder that they would let you have it. what kills me is you actually made a thread about what you should do.
take the head off and remove it. but since you started it, take the head off and clean out the little bits/ inspect for damage. better safe then sorry IMO
its messy and dusty and even stinky, but not really that bad. just take your time and read up on it as much as possible. theres lots here that have done it and done write-ups on it
