I had a hard time with the theory as well until I did the same mod. I also tried an OEM sj reduction nozzle with oem steering and the problem went away. The best i can tell the water is back flowing as pictured below. With the extended outlet the problem is solved.
The power is nice, and it also allows you to run OEM tank, waterbox, and battery tray. The rickter seems to be the only AM hull it will fit in other than the Lenzi. Since you have it and the powerfactor is hard to get at the moment, give it a try. BTW it will not fit on the DASA 1100 and clear...
I ran the type 4 on a xs1k and just changed over to the power factor on the same ski. (XFR) You may be surprised at the power extracted from the old type 4's.
