When you add a set back pump, the bearing area of the pump is decreased in length because of the set back. So, the bearing area of the shaft (rear) has to be cut down (shortened) to fit in the pump. If you didn't, the shaft would stick out of the back of the pump. SM

We used good Jap bearings and still had issues. We put them together without a press and even had one spun on a lathe and they won't last. But, we run a lot more rpms in the kawis than most people do in triples. You can't beat the pump for the money, but IMO stainless is a bad idea for a pump...

Keep your eye on the prop/driveshaft/pump. Solas 12 veins don't like a lot of rpm at extended WOT runs. They work great for normal freeriding and freestyle, but when you start turning big rpm and holding it open for long times, they like to eat bearings. SM
