"FINALLY DONE" -41lbs 2003 SXR 800 "wifes ski"

what exhaust setup/water box it looks crazy

LOL!!!!! Well I held off on a pipe for a while to let her get acclimated to a standup. So I took a 750 chamber to run the exhaust backward into a 750 waterbox, which has been gutted now. Ran a cross pipe over to the stock exit and wall-a. Took all the weight out of the nose from all the 800 waterbox and rubber hoses. By doing it this way I took 7lbs out of the nose. I can not take credit for this idea. LOL. Fastony had done this to his wife's SXR and his WDK hull but used an aftermarket box that he modded with a 2" inlet and exit, with a dry Pipe , with the aftermarket box he lost almost 10lb. This really lightens the nose up!!!

Thanks. Its hard to remember to take a picture of it when you get to working on it. You tend to get carried away and just start working. Sometimes pictures are the last thing on your mind; all you think is now how am I going to do this?LOL!!!

Just an update. Got to ride this thing over the last weekend finally. I have to say I am very very pleased with the way it handles. Doesn't seem to porpoise at all. It slides around alot like the SJ when you want spin like a 180, but yet is still so stable and hooks like an SXR should. As far as jumping wakes and such it comes up so easy and smooth. I don't regret this cut back at all. The nose feels so light.

DId you lay a layer of glass in the inside of the hull or just clean it up? It looks fantastic. I want to take all the glue out of mine over the winter. What did you use to cut it out? I tried to start with a grinder and it was a NO GO. lol That stuff is a pain in the a$$.

Ski looks great!

So your wifey wanted the sxr cut back and lightened up???? LOL, WHATEVA!!!! She must have just wanted you out in the shop for some reason. Nice work. Curious to see how it handles and to see the pics of you Back Flippin the cut back, lightweight, purple Kawi.

For real, Nice work.

LOL!!!! Thanks......... I figured it would be easier for her to jump, and enjoy with the lighter/cut back hull. Alot more flickable but still be stable for her. After seeing her ride and jump the Blaster's, I thought it would be a nice change for her. But I have to admit, After riding it; I am quite impressed at it's jumpig capabilities. With a bit more brap, or a good V-wake she would definitely come around on flip. And I think it will be a great backup ski:sneaky: for me!! LOL!!!

And yes it did keep me in the shop quite a bit. Not a bad thing I suppose. Keeps ya out of doing the dishes after dinner. LOL!!

Still Fat....
very nice work there
and like the data you presented too
also diggin that exhaust setup, has me pondering something like that for her SXR

might i recommend the ripper ride plate from blowsion
WOW
it really made the ski more nimble and fun for my wife
and she just LOVES the blowsion trim system we had installed, she uses that all day long

I want to get the ski lighter for her as well, and i like the ideas i saw here (versus getting a new hull' which we may do)

bet your wife will love the ski

Old thread but kawyjunki awesome job! What kind of drain did you use on the right side under exhaust? It's to small of an area to throw on a versiplug. Lately I'm having to remove one of the exhaust flange bolts to drain water from that side of the ski. Also do you notice a difference with the rear bondline trimmed?
