I always see surf vids where guys just come haulin azz up the beach and slide to a stop on the sand. Doesn't this destroy your intake grate and prop?
How do you surf guys slide your skis up the beach and not destroy parts?

No....just make sure you turn off the engine before you beach it.
So you pin it, kill it and slide....
Also make sure you lay low on the tray or you will go airborne.
I guess the prop may get chipped over time a bit.....:dunno:

The key is to kill the motor b4 hitting the beach.
But this won't stop your scoop grate from shoveling sand straight into your pump.
That's why, when you go for the next burn, you get the ski in knee deep water and hump the tray up and down to rinse out the sand b4 you fire it up.
P.S: I destroyed a stock pump-shoe sliding up the beach.
xr-tech(snowxr) shoe is good as gold. Well, at least way better than stock plastic!

i do it at least once a ride, only gone through one impeller, it wears out the outside of the impeller running in all the sand. ive refinished the bottom once too, it was getting thin!

You can also lean the ski to the side some as you hit the beach.
Might want to alternate sides, dont want to grind down just one side of the chines!

I bet the impeller wears down quite a bit from the sand all churned up in the whitewater too.

SJBrit does it different, he comes wide open to the shore, then cranks the bars into a 90 degree slide and slides up the shore sideways.

Beached my skis 50,000,000 times, besides loss of gelcoat and a few shell gouges... no problems. Its the pulling it back to the water after beaching, that kills you...lol

I never (or I should say very rarely) do this. Just like previously pointed out it sand blasts everything down below as well as its a B#%$ to pull it back off the sand
